Dubai’s ambient humidity — which rarely drops below 50% even in winter and regularly sits above 70% in summer — means mold finds the conditions it needs more readily here than in drier climates. A leak that might take a week to cause mold problems in a temperate climate can cause them in 48 hours in a Dubai apartment.

Step 1 — Stop the Water and Assess the Situation

The first priority is ending the water intrusion. Until the source is stopped, everything else is temporary.

For a leak from a supply line — burst pipe, failed appliance connection, leaking tap fitting — turn off the relevant isolation valve. If you can’t isolate the specific circuit, turn off the main supply to the property. In Dubai apartments, the main isolation valve is typically inside a service cupboard near the front door or in the bathroom.
